Customer Service: Warranties

Warranty Administration

All of our parts come with a warranty of at least one full year!  Our warranty covers sending a replacement part and getting the other part back.  Please contact us for more specifics.

It is our policy to replace ALL defective or wrong parts. If you believe you have a defective or wrong part, please visit our Contact Us page and use the email subject "Warranty Issue," so that we can get you a replacement part as soon as possible.

Returning defective or wrong parts is treated as a standard return and subject to a restocking fee: there are no exceptions to this policy.   Installed parts are not returnable for a refund, but we will arrange to get you a replacement part, if the part has failed after installation.  This policy helps ensure fast resolution of any warranty issues.

Please be sure to include current contact telephone and email information so that an Auto Parts Point technician can contact you if needed to help with troubleshooting tips, or to arrange a part replacement.

PT Cruiser & Neon SRT4 Turbochargers- Part no. 40-300083 - Due to frequent system contamination, we require the oil line to be replaced in order to warranty the turbocharger.  Customers are responsible for providing the proof of purchase and the proof of install of the oil line for the turbocharger to be covered under warranty.

Subaru Turbochargers - Due to  oil starvation caused by the banjo bolt and in accordance with Subaru's service bulletin, the factory oil feed banjo bolt must be replaced in order to qualify for warranty coverage for all Subaru turbochargers.

Electric Steering Racks - Electric Steering Racks come with a 1 Year Parts Warranty. We offer a full 3 Year Warranty on all other Steering Racks, unless otherwise noted.

Car Radio and Navigation units - These units may require dealer programming, please consult your local dealer prior to install.

Air Conditioning Compressor Warranty

AC COMPRESSOR WARRANTY AGREEMENT – PLEASE READ CAREFULLY

Note: Failure to follow these 12 steps when installing your AC compressor part will void your warranty.

  1. MUST clean A/C system with an approved flush, using an approved flushing method (R141b and Dura Flush are approved).  If an approved flush is not available, an in-line filter MUST be installed per the instructions included with the compressor.
  2. MUST replace the filter dryer or accumulator.  No exceptions: if you do not buy this from us, make sure to keep you receipt, in case of a warranty claim.
  3. MUST replace the orifice tube or liquid line that contains orifice tube (if applicable).
  4. Inspect/replace the thermostatic expansion valve and clean theinlet screen (if applicable).
  5. Check for proper air flow through the condenser and radiator cooling fins (condenser may need to be replaced; see additional information in the instructions included with the compressor).
  6. Check for proper fan clutch or electric fan operation.
  7. Check the compressor clutch air gap before installation (refer to OEM or compressor manufacturer’s specifications).
  8. Must add the correct type and amount of refrigerant oil (refer to OEM or compressor manufacturer’s specifications).
  9. After hose assemblies are attached, turn the compressor shaft (not just the clutch pulley) a minimum of ten times to clear the oil from the compressor (a spanner wrench may be required).
  10. Check the compressor clutch electrical circuit for proper voltage (use either OEM or compressor manufacturer’s specifications).
  11. Use only R12 or R134a refrigerant.
  12. Evacuate the entire A/C system for a minimum of 45 minutes, if the temperature is above 80 degrees F (60 minutes for a dual-air system, or if temperature is below 80 degrees F).

All late 90s -2006 Honda CR-V models: The condenser containing the drier must be changed to satisfy the proper installation requirements.

MOST REMANUFACTURED COMPRESSORS DO NOT CONTAIN OIL.  SOME NEW UNITS DO CONTAIN OIL.  You MUST add oil per OEM or compressor manufacturer’s recommendations.  The WARRANTY IS VOID UNLESS THESE DIRECTIONS ARE FOLLOWED.   PROPER INSTALLATION IS A MUST - PLEASE FOLLOW THESE DIRECTIONS.

INSTALLATION NOTES:

A compressor is a motor, and like any motor, the oil reservoir must be clean and contain oil.  The system (condenser, lines, etc.) is the oil reservoir.   It all must be clean.  You must flush the lines and condenser with a liquid flush.  We recommend using only a liquid flush, followed by compressed air.   Use of Varsol to clean the condenser and all hoses is acceptable.   The cleaning procedure should be followed with a "no residue" solvent, such as Chlorothane or Trichlorothane.   MasterChem A/C Flush is recommended, followed by compressed air.

PROCEDURE:

  1. Remove refrigerant, following all federal disposal guidelines and regulations, and remove the old compressor.  Disconnect the high pressure line (the small line) at the evaporator (for now leave the orifice tube /expansion valve in place).
  2. IMPORTANT:  The high pressure lines and condenser will most likely be dirty.   Flush the lines and the condenser with the recommended liquid flush, followed by compressed air.  Pour about one quart of cleaner into the high pressure line, at the point where it attaches to the compressor.  Let it flow down into the condenser and then blow it out with plenty of air.   Once dirty fluid and debris stop coming out, repeat with more cleaner and air.  Repeat this procedure until you get clean fluid to exit the lines.
  3. In most cases, the orifice screen or dryer filter will have kept the evaporator free from debris.   If the evaporator is dirty, it must also be cleaned.  Use only a "no residue" solvent in the evaporator, as these solvents evaporate quickly.   Extra care is necessary to blow all the solvent from the evaporator because the tubes are often not at the lowest point of the core: after the evaporator is flushed, you should allow additional time with the vacuum pump on the system in order to "boil out" all the solvent.  No solvent must be left in the system.
  4. Always, WITH NO EXCEPTION, install a new accumulator or dryer filter, and orifice tube (in addition, certain vehicles require a new "liquid line," which contains the orifice tube).   If it is clean and in working order, it is acceptable to use the old expansion valve on vehicles that are equipped accordingly.  At this point, with everything clean, install the compressor.
  5. Vacuum and service the system (vacuum the system for a minimum of 30 minutes, or for a full hour, if the evaporator was flushed).

IMPORTANT NOTES :

  • Our compressors are shipped with NO OIL.   New compressors may be shipped with or without oil, so check tagging and labeling on the box.  Add the appropriate oil charge to the system based on manufacturers' specifications prior to the refrigerant charge.  (Most front-air-only systems use eight ounces of refrigerant oil.  Most rear-air systems (i.e.. minivans, etc.) use twelve total ounces of refrigerant oil. MAKE SURE TO CHECK MANUFACTURER'S SPECIFICATIONS.
  • We recommend PAG oil of the appropriate viscosity that is compatible with R12 or R134a refrigerants.
  • We make every effort to supply all compressors with the appropriate electrical connections.  However, it is possible that the connector on the compressor we shipped you differs from your application.   If this is the case, you may cut the wire in order to use your connection WITHOUT affecting your warranty.   If switches and/or a line manifold are necessary, use these from the old unit.
  • All compressors are bench-tested at standard RPMs, however, compressors MAY NOT necessarily turn by hand.
  • DO NOT USE ANY REFRIGERANTS OTHER THAN PURE R12 FOR R12 SYSTEMS AND PURE R134 FOR R134 SYSTEMS.  BLENDS SUCH AS HOT SHOT, FREEZE 12, FREE ZONE etc., OR ANY OTHER R22/R122 ETC BLEND WILL VOID YOUR WARRANTY.  NO EXCEPTIONS.

The following information must be returned with a warranty claim on an A/C compressor:

  1. A copy of the original repair order.
  2. A copy of the invoice for the unit purchased.
  3. A copy of the parts supplier invoice for the receiver dryer; expansion valve; orifice tube (if so equipped); A/C system flush; A/C hose assemblies (if applicable); and any other components replaced when the compressor was installed.
  4. A copy of the second (replacement) work order.
